Wednesday AM update: Major news on Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels and Brock Lesnar

Wednesday September 3 BY Phil Lowe

- We understand that Mick Foley has signed a contract with TNA with an announcement to be made at some point on Wednesday.

From speaking to a source close to the situation, I got the impression that Foley had agreed a relatively short-term deal however I’ve not been able to confirm the length of the deal. There was talk at one point of a three-year deal but I’d be surprised if either side committed for that long and a year-long deal similar to Sting’s would seem to make more sense.

Foley’s WWE deal expired on Monday.

A statement is scheduled to be released at some point on Wednesday and we’ll bring full details of it in a second daily update later this afternoon.

- Shawn Michaels’ torn triceps injury is not as bad as first feared and Michaels will work this Sunday’s Unforgiven PPV. After an examination on Tuesday it was determined that Michaels suffered a small tear on his left triceps which will not require surgery. Michaels may not actually miss any ring time.

- In case you missed the news that broke last night, the UFC have confirmed that Randy Couture will make his UFC return on November 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Couture will face former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a five-round fight with Couture’s UFC Heavyweight Title on the line. More details on what will be the biggest UFC fight of 2008 are over at MMAPreview.com.
