Smackdown opened with MVP and Triple H in the Player’s Lounge. Some good lines during this. Vickie Guerrero came out to huge heat and it was announced that Triple H will defend his WWE title against Edge at the Great American Bash on July 20.

- Michelle McCool won a ‘Star on a Pole’ Divas match. She’ll now face Natalya to determine the first WWE Divas Champion.

- Jesse and Festus beat Curt Hawkins and Zach Ryder. Good match. Afterwards, Edge came out and attacked Festus.

- Jeff Hardy beat John Morrison. Huge pop for Hardy’s Smackdown debut. An ok match.

- Umaga beat Funaki. Total squash match which didn’t last long at all.

- Vickie and Edge had a fight. She was pissed with him for going to Raw without telling her.

- Matt Hardy beat Mr. Kennedy, Chavo Guerrero and Shelton Benjamin fatal four-way match to retain the U.S. Title. Good match.

- Edge came out to the ring, complaining that everybody was against him. Vickie came out and cancelled next week’s wedding. That was the end of the show, which live didn’t come off well at all - especially the way it ended.

After the taping ended, Triple H & Big Show beat Mark Henry & Edge after Triple H pinned Henry. An ok dark match.

Overall, a disappointing taping after Monday’s excellent Raw show.
