Tuesday news update: TMZ on ECW champion plus more WWE news and notes

Tuesday July 1 BY Phil Lowe

- WWE tapes Smackdown and ECW in Tulsa, Oklahoma tonight. If you’re attending the tapings and are able to provide us with a report or results from the Smackdown taping, you can get in touch with me at phil@wwepreview.com.

- We’ll post the rating for last night’s edition of Raw as soon as we get it. Last night’s show was definitely one of the strongest in a long, long time. I’m not jumping through hoops yet, but last night was definitely encouraging in terms of pushing new talent and creating new storylines.

- TMZ.com have a short piece up on Mark Henry winning the ECW title on Sunday night, linking the win to the racial slur thrown his way by Michael Hayes around WrestleMania time. Hayes of course was given a sixty-day suspension for his remarks.

- Jim Ross has posted his latest blog, noting that last night’s edition of Raw did a $400,000 box office with 11,000 fans attending. That’s higher than the last time WWE staged a PPV in the same arena. You can read his blog in full at this link.

- Thanks to Devin Cutting for the following: The 2009 WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on April 4th. WWE is also holding Monday Night Raw at the Toyota Center on April 6th, the day after WrestleMania 25. Go to http://www.prowrestlingevents.tk for info about upcoming wrestling shows.
