With WWE’s exceptional productions values, its rare that a WrestleMania DVD release does not represent value for money in this day and age, and WrestleMania XXIV is no different.

Wrestlemania XXIV was held on March 30 2008, from the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Although the show closed with Edge vs. The Undertaker in the final match of the evening, the main event was really Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather had made an appearance at the No Way Out pay-per-view, and had found himself in an altercation with the 7ft tall, 450lb giant to set up the Mania match and have boxing journalists believe the worked $20m appearance fee was real.

Elsewhere on the card was the WWE World Heavyweight Title match, which saw Randy Orton defend against John Cena and Triple-H in a three-way match, and Shawn Michaels faced Ric Flair in a match in which the latter would retire should he lose.

As you likely know, Flair did indeed retire. For the match alone, and the awesome finale, you should purchase this DVD now.

Was the show perfect? No. Far from it. Some of the undercard matches were poor.

But the money matches - Edge vs. The Undertaker, Randy Orton vs. Triple-H vs. John Cena, Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather and Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair were all good bouts, in particular the latter, considering the emotion involved.

If the matches aren’t enough to make you want to part with your hard-earned cash, then there’s a plethora of extras on this 3-disc DVD, including the full Ric Flair induction speech from the Hall of Fame.

If you’re a fan of professional wrestling - even if you (for some reason) were never the biggest Flair fan - his Mania match with Michaels combined with the Hall of Fame speech makes this a must buy and one for the collection.
