Tuesday news update: ROH star at Raw, Hogan on CNN, plus Austin, Smackdown vs RAW and more

Tuesday June 10 BY Phil Lowe

- The big news coming out of Raw last night - at least online - is not the $1million giveaway, or anything to do with WWE’s Night of Champions PPV. Ring of Honor’s Bryan Danielson worked a dark match prior to Raw last night, beating Lance Cade with his cattle mutilation finisher.

Is Danielson heading to WWE? Its too early to tell. He’s one of the only guys working the indy circuit who is making a good living without needing the security of a WWE contract, and between his ROH and Japan dates is doing well for himself. At 27 he has age on his side, and there are definitely some in WWE who are high on him, but there are question marks over his style of wrestling.

It could be a case of him just coming in for a dark match with nothing else to it, which has happened in the past. But it hasn’t happened for several years, and his role last night was not to make a contracted wrestler look good.

If Danielson was to join WWE, it would be a massive, massive blow to Ring of Honor. We contacted ROH earlier today but at time of writing they had not offered any comment on his appearance. Its one to file under ‘time will tell’ for now I think.

- With Smackdown and ECW being taped over the weekend (spoilers for next two weeks of TV are up on the site), its a quiet night tonight with just ECW airing on Sci-Fi. We’ll have a report of the show up in the morning.

- Hulk Hogan is scheduled to appear on Larry King Live tonight on CNN at 8pm Eastern with replays throughout the night. It should air at 1am UK time on CNN International with a replay tomorrow. This is a chance for Hogan - who is speaking publically for the first time since his son, Nick, was sentenced to eight months in jail - to do some serious damage limitation stemming from the audio tapes that were released to the media last week.

- Steve Austin will star in a new reality show being developed by Original Media, the company behind L.A Ink and Miami Ink. There is no link to WWE in the project, and the ‘Stone Cold’ name will not be used by Austin during it.

- Silver Vision have announced the latest in their Tagged Classics series. WrestleMania XV and the Steve Austin ‘Hell Yeah’ DVD will be released as a 2-Disc pack in August. You can pre-order it now for £11.99 by clicking here.
